Latto turns 28 on December 22, and she will spend that night headlining the Eko Convention Centre. Flytime named her yesterday for the opening night of Flytime Fest, the three nights that run up to Christmas Eve.

Hers is the first name Flytime has put on those three nights.
That makes three American headliners on three straight nights in the same hall. Brandy opens Flytime’s run on December 20 with House of R&B, and Lil Baby has Coca-Cola Rhythm Unplugged on the 21st. Latto, another Atlanta rapper, takes the 22nd.
Flytime has said out loud what it looks for in these bookings. Explaining last year’s Central Cee booking, COO Keke Hammond told Music Week the company wanted “an artist like him who loves African music and who’s done collaborations with a lot of Nigerian artists.” Latto clears that bar without stretching. She jumped on the remix of Davido’s “Unavailable” in August 2023, and “Anxious”, her song with Wizkid and Odeal, sits on her new album. Ayra Starr also has her on “Show Me” from this year’s official FIFA World Cup album.
The Lagos date lands in an odd year for her. In May she posted “5/29 My retirement album Thank you for everything” about Big Mama, the fourth album she made while pregnant with her first child. On release day she said it was the last album she owed her label, and added, “I wouldn’t say I’m retiring today.” A December headline slot in Lagos does not look like someone leaving the stage.
She will not have the city to herself that night. Ruger closes ICONIQ Fest at The Lekki Coliseum on December 22, so Lagos picks between them on the Tuesday before Christmas.
Flytime still has two festival nights to fill, and Davido has taken one of them in each of the last two Decembers.
