Seyi Vibez Wants Grammy Voters to Hear FUJI MOTO as Global Music

Three of the 14 songs on Seyi Vibez’s FUJI MOTO carry the word fuji in their titles, and his team has now put the whole album in front of Recording Academy voters for Best Global Music Album at the 2027 Grammys. “AMA,” the album’s fourth track, is entered for Best African Music Performance.

These are submissions, the For Your Consideration stage that every eligible release goes through. First-round voting, which decides the nominees, closes today, and the nominations are announced on November 16.

The album category is where the gap sits. Since Burna Boy won it with Twice As Tall in 2021, the Nigerian albums it has shortlisted have come from Burna himself (three more times), Wizkid’s Made in Lagos, Femi and Made Kuti’s joint Legacy+, Davido’s Timeless, Tems’ Born in the Wild and Rema’s HEIS. Go further back and the names are Femi Kuti, Seun Kuti and Egypt 80, and King Sunny AdĂ©. Lagos street-pop, the sound that fills Nigeria’s streaming charts most weeks, has never had an album on that list. Neither has anything built on fuji.

The performance category has been kinder to that end of the scene. Asake has been nominated for Best African Music Performance twice, with Olamide on “Amapiano” and with Wizkid on “MMS.” Olamide turns up on FUJI MOTO too, on “FUJI PARTY,” one of the album’s three fuji-titled cuts.

FUJI MOTO arrived in November 2025 through Seyi’s own NSNV INC with EMPIRE. French Montana, Trippie Redd and NLE Choppa fill out the guest list, a reach toward American rap that sits next to the fuji titles on the same tracklist.

If either entry clears the first round, it will be read out on November 16 from 12:45 WAT.
