Yarden’s first album, ANGEL, is out now, and its 13 tracks carry three guests: Dxtiny on “SFD (Sweet Fanta Diallo),” Kemuel on “Rain” and Fimi on “Sexy Freak.”
He posted it to X at 00:28 WAT with three short lines.
The album lands almost four years after “Wetin,” his November 2022 single. He signed with Etins Records, and in December 2023 he followed the song with The One Who Descends, a five-track EP released with 0207 Def Jam and named after what “Yarden” means in Hebrew. He kept that EP’s guest list to two friends, Swayvee and Morien, and ANGEL widens the circle by one.
Kemuel is a familiar voice next to his. In 2023 the two sang together with Jayman on “Onome,” a Soul and Funk record.
According to Azuri Music, ANGEL moves between Afropop, Afrosoul and Alternative R&B. The release notes point to violin arrangements on the opener, “Morning Angel,” an Afrobeats and Mariachi blend on “Mi Amor” and atmospheric R&B on the closer, “Twilight.” Two songs were already out before midnight: “Sunset in Paris” and, two weeks ago, “SDF (So Damn Fine),” which now sits directly ahead of the Dxtiny feature with the reversed initials, “SFD (Sweet Fanta Diallo).”
Azuri Music also says Yarden kept his habit of songs around two minutes long across the album, even after listeners asked him for longer ones.
The rollout leaned on images. There were reveals of people Yarden calls “His Angels,” and a trailer with winged figures and fencing on a rooftop.
ANGEL is out now. Listen to ANGEL here.
