Tiwa Savage Drops “African Baddie” Days After Answering the Age Jab

Tiwa Savage’s new single, “African Baddie,” is out now, on Apple Music and other platforms. The song runs 2:37. She set the midnight drop on X at 1 p.m. WAT on Oct 29: “You guys have done a madness with this one, so happy you love #AfricanBaddie! Will be yours at midnight.”

The day before, an X user posted “African baddie at 40.. this one no serious.” Tiwa quote-posted it with the reply below.

She is 46. That was the whole answer.

The title has a relative in her catalogue. Her second album, R.E.D. (2016), carried “African Waist” with Don Jazzy, and nearly a decade on she is back to naming a song after the African woman in it, this time with herself as the subject. She first teased the record on Oct 27, and the pre-save page runs through Ditto (ditto.fm/african_baddie).

Most of her 2026 releases so far have shared the credit. She joined Wande Coal and Mavo on “Energy” in May and Wande Coal again on “Must Be Love” in June, sang on Pheelz’s “I’m OK” with Rii and on Jonna Fraser’s “Turn It Up,” and closed out on DJ Target’s “Bring You Flowers” with Chip on Oct 15. Her last album, This One Is Personal, came out in August 2025 through Everything Savage and EMPIRE.

She also spent the weekend before the drop in London. Tiwa was a surprise guest at Fally Ipupa’s two nights at The O2 on Oct 24 and 25, where she performed “Somebody’s Son,” according to XclusivStars. On Oct 26 she thanked him on X: “Thank you for having me King… J’aime ma famille francophone.”
