Global music legend and one of Africa’s biggest exports, Angelique Kidjo has announced a new studio album titled Hope, set for release on April 24. The project is already generating excitement across the music world thanks to its powerful theme and an impressive list of international collaborators.
The five time Grammy winning Beninese singer describes Hope as a deeply personal project that reflects resilience, optimism, and the power of unity. The album is also dedicated to her late mother, whose message of perseverance helped inspire the record’s central theme.
Star studded global lineup
The album brings together artists from across Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Featured guests include Afrobeats star Davido and Nigerian pop sensation Ayra Starr, alongside global music figures Pharrell Williams and legendary guitarist Nile Rodgers.
The project also includes appearances from Quavo, Charlie Wilson, and Grammy winning R&B artist PJ Morton. African music is further represented by Congolese superstar Fally Ipupa, Tanzanian hitmaker Diamond Platnumz, and Nigerian highlife duo The Cavemen.
French artists Florent Pagny and Dadju join the lineup, as well as Brazilian pop singer IZA. Adding a powerful vocal presence is the internationally acclaimed Soweto Gospel Choir.
Another landmark moment for Kidjo
Hope will mark Kidjo’s nineteenth major project in a career that has spanned nearly five decades. Known for fusing traditional African sounds with global genres such as jazz, funk, and pop, while still maintaining the core African roots, Kidjo has become one of the most influential ambassadors of African music worldwide.
With a theme centered on unity and an extraordinary lineup of collaborators, Hope is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated global music releases of the year as fans await its arrival on April 24.
