Magicsticks Becomes First Producer To Spend 100 Weeks At No. 1 On TurnTable Producer Top 100

Magicsticks has made Nigerian chart history. The Lagos-based producer is now the first to log 100 weeks at No. 1 on TurnTable Charts’ Official Producer Top 100, a milestone no producer has reached since the chart began tracking Nigeria’s hitmakers.

The Producer Top 100 ranks producers by combined streaming and airplay performance across their records in Nigeria. Magicsticks has held the top spot for a staggering stretch, and the latest issue extends a dominance that has defined the chart. In the most recent issue available, he led with 484.13 points, well clear of SB in second and Shallythechampion in third.

His grip on the chart goes back to his work with Asake. Magicsticks produced the entirety of “Mr Money With The Vibe,” the album that made Asake a continental force, and was behind chart-toppers like “Yoga,” which gave him his sixth No. 1 as a producer, all through records with Asake. His sound was already travelling before that, with a hand in DJ Neptune’s “Nobody,” which topped TurnTable’s 2020 year-end chart.

The achievement also says something about longevity. Magicsticks has spent more than 220 weeks on the chart, a run that started when he was still a rising name and has carried him to the summit of Nigerian production. He started out as a DJ before moving into production, and the climb from Ikorodu to a record-setting run at No. 1 is one of the best stories in recent Afrobeats.

For a chart built on actual consumption, 100 weeks at the top is less a flex than a measure of how many Nigerians are pressing play on his records, week after week.
