Wizkid’s Own Songs Have Passed Five Billion Spotify Streams, by ChartMasters’ Count

For years the biggest number next to Wizkid’s name on Spotify has been shared with Drake. “One Dance,” where Wizkid is the featured artist, has passed 4.5 billion plays by itself.

The songs filed under his own name have now passed five billion.

ChartMasters posted the mark this morning, with WizKid at 5,001,717,069 lead streams, 651st on its all-time list of Spotify artists. In its post announcing the mark, ChartMasters called him the fourth most-streamed Afrobeats artist ever, and said he leads the genre once features are added. Its list has Burna Boy (8.1 billion) and Rema (6.4 billion) ahead of him.

That figure depends on how you count. ChartMasters counts lead credits its own way: every track in the Albums, Singles and Compilations sections of his Spotify page counts as his, and anything under “Appears On” is a feature. kworb, the other tracker fans quote, splits credits differently, and its Oct. 20 update shows Wizkid at 3.46 billion as lead artist out of 11.67 billion in total. Spotify has not announced either number.

On kworb’s count, “One Dance” alone still outweighs everything Wizkid leads. His biggest own-name song there is “Essence” with Tems, at about 406 million.
