Zlatan Was Carried Into His Marrakesh Welcome Party. Then “Nakupenda” Came On

Four men in red fezzes lifted Zlatan into his own welcome party in Marrakesh on the night of Nov 3, seated cross-legged on a carved gold amaria. Davita Lamai came in the same way, in a pale blue gown, on a second platform with four more bearers. When the couple later took the floor together, the song on the speakers was one Zlatan is on.

It was “Nakupenda,” and one of its lead artists, Davido, was in the room.

The record came out on December 12, 2025, credited to South African duo TxC with Davido, Shoday and Scotts Maphuma, and with Zlatan and Al Xapo as features. TxC have said that “when ‘Nakupenda’ plays outside or we see videos, we always still get shocked” (in a June 2026 interview), and a “Live in London” version followed on October 23 through LVRN. In the clips from Marrakesh, the couple trade steps in front of a stage lined with speakers while guests film from the edge. One guest who posted the dance wrote that “the moment the bride took off her heels everyone knew it was about to go down.” Near the end, a burst of dry-ice fog rolls over the stage, and another clip caught Zlatan walking straight out of it.

Davido, Carter Efe, Tunde Perry, Pretty Mike, Biesloaded and Soso Soberekon were among the guests in the room. For Davido, it was the second leg of the same job, since he stood among Zlatan’s groomsmen in Lagos ten days earlier.

That first ceremony took place in Oniru on October 24, with the couple in coral beads and Edo attire before they changed into Yoruba outfits. Zlatan captioned the first photos “IT’S TIME TO MARRY,” and five days later the hook of “Inferno,” his song with Peruzzi and Shoday, landed on the same words. The Morocco leg started on Nov 1, when Zlatan posted a studio portrait in a black-and-gold agbada captioned “CASABLANCA DE KATAMATOPHIA.”

Zlatan and Davita have two sons, Shiloh, born in 2020, and Benaiah, who turns two this month. Zlatan said in a 2025 interview that becoming a father in 2020 changed everything for him and cooled the wild energy of his early records. The son he meant is now six.

The white wedding is set for later this week in Marrakesh. Nobody has said yet what the first dance will be.
