A tender, self-assured meditation on womanhood: ru.’s most fully realized body of work yet
Abuja-born singer-songwriter ru. (Ruth Unde) returns on August 5 with SILK, a five-track EP that marks her most intimate and assured artistic statement to date. SILK is Ru.’s meditation on womanhood, a tender, self-assured body of work that honours the beauty of becoming. Framed as a love letter to women navigating love, desire, vulnerability, and self-discovery, the EP invites listeners into softness not as weakness, but as a radical expression of self-possession.
Like the fabric itself, SILK holds a quiet duality: delicate in feel, yet enduring in strength. Across the project, Ru. explores femininity as both intimate and powerful, tracing the emotional textures of longing, resilience, beauty, and quiet transformation. Moving with warmth, sensuality, and intention, SILK captures the moment ru. blooms more fully into herself, offering a world where softness is not only felt, but claimed.

The EP follows Ru.’s single “WOMAN,” produced by Mr Eff and mixed and mastered by Johnny Drille, which debuted at #25 on Nigerian radio and stood as an early celebration of strength, grace, and womanhood, themes SILK now expands into a full body of work.
Ru. first introduced herself to listeners with “I Think I Love U,” followed by “I Think I Love U 2” featuring Magixx; the two records have amassed over one million streams combined, establishing her as one of the more promising new voices in Nigeria’s evolving music landscape.

Working at the intersection of Afropop, soul, and alternative R&B, ru. writes from a place of honesty, emotion, and faith, turning deeply personal experience into stories listeners can see themselves in. Known for her rich vocal tone, thoughtful songwriting, and striking visual identity, she has built a body of work rooted in vulnerability, femininity, and self-expression, moving fluidly between soulful intimacy and contemporary Afropop.
