Wizkid Has 12 Billion Spotify Streams by WizStatz’s Count. Kworb Isn’t There Yet

Most of Wizkid’s Spotify numbers have always been built on other people’s songs. “One Dance,” where he is the featured artist next to Drake, has passed 4.5 billion plays by itself, and Kworb counts more than eight billion of his streams as features.

Add everything together and, per WizStatz, he has now crossed 12 billion.

The fan-run stats account posted the figure this morning at 8:17 a.m. WAT, saying Wizkid “becomes the first African Artist to surpass 12 Billion Streams On Spotify Across All Credits.”

Kworb, the tracker fans quote most often, isn’t there yet. Its Oct. 25 update has Wizkid at 11,656,624,913 streams across 238 tracks, which leaves him about 343 million short. He is adding close to 6 million a day on that page, so the Kworb total will keep climbing toward the same line over the coming weeks.

The gap comes down to counting. Stats accounts decide differently which tracks belong to an artist and when a play gets logged, and their totals rarely match. WETALKSTATS, another account, had him at 11.955 billion on Oct. 19. Spotify has not announced a figure, and nobody has an official ruling on who reached the mark first across Africa, so that claim stays with WizStatz.

The lead-artist side moves slower. Last week, ChartMasters put the songs under his own name past five billion Spotify streams, while Kworb’s split credits him with about 3.47 billion as lead. Features still do most of the daily work too: of the roughly 6 million plays Kworb logged in its latest update, about 3.75 million came from songs where he is the guest. Last week, his biggest own-name song on that page was “Essence” with Tems, at about 406 million.

Either way, the bigger number still leans on “One Dance.”
