FOLA is back in Ibadan tonight, headlining Agodi Gardens with his sophomore album six days away. The homecoming is the hometown room he chose for the week before 9, after a year of Official Nigeria No. 1s and a Headies ballot that already put his name next to longer careers.
October 9 is when 9 (spoken “Striker”) lands through Dangbana Republik and EMPIRE. Last night he put the order in plain language: the album is coming, but Ibadan first. The updated 9 art across streaming already leans into that countdown. Tonight’s show sits in the gap between the domestic run that made the drop feel urgent and the Friday that has to answer it.
“Ibadan is home for me, so doing this here means a lot,” he said ahead of the date. “It’s been a big year already and I’m just happy to come back, perform for my people and make it a proper night.”
That year is the reason the room matters. Catharsis, his September 2025 debut, built the foundation. 2026 stacked Official Nigeria Top 100 No. 1s on top of it, including the Davido and Mayorkun cut “B4 B4” and the Bella Shmurda and Zlatan street answer “it’s over.” He also leads the 18th Headies field with 10 nominations before Toronto later this month. Bringing that pressure back to Agodi Gardens keeps the victory lap inside the city that raised him.
Tickets have been moving through Eventporte, with the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development helping stage the night and a local backer reported to have bought hundreds of seats for young fans. Zlatan, Ayo Maff, and Mayorkun are among the names billed to join; the guest list has stayed fluid in the run-up, so the stage still has room to surprise.
Six days from now the striker number has to do album work. Tonight it just has to fill a garden in Ibadan.
