For months, Yemi Alade has been pointing at a September date without giving the full album away. The trailer for It’s Yemi Alade went up in August. The calendar now says September 11, 2026: her seventh studio project after Rebel Queen.
“Ala Bekee,” her new collab with Don Jazzy, is the clearest pre-album shot yet. The song is a wedding toast dressed as Afropop: choosing your person, honeymoon talk, a wink at life abroad. Ala Bekee, an Igbo phrase tied to foreign land, turns that joke into the chorus’s travel fantasy, Maldives and all.
The video leans into Nollywood comedy. Destiny Etiko and Nosa Rex play an engaged couple shopping photographers for their pre-wedding shoot. Yemi Alade and Don Jazzy both want the job. What starts as a simple booking turns into a sabotage contest: rival setups, bridal-party glam, Igbo wedding colour everywhere.
That playfulness fits the lane she has been working this year, from earlier singles into this Don Jazzy trade. Don Jazzy’s verse keeps the prayerful, prosperous energy while Yemi holds the romantic centre. It is still a single with a plot, timed three days out from a full-length.
It’s Yemi Alade still has its tracklist under wraps. “Ala Bekee” does not need to spoil it. It just puts the album on the clock, with a video that already feels like a party people will keep sending around between now and Friday.
