Joining Tems at the Top of Apple Music
Burna Boy has become only the second African artist ever to reach number one on the Apple Music Top 100: Global Songs chart, joining Tems as the only two acts from the continent to hit that peak. Dai Dai climbed to the summit of the chart on the back of its continued global run, a feat that places Burna Boy alongside Tems in a group of just two names on Apple Music’s entire global history.
The achievement adds to a run that has already seen Dai Dai dominate elsewhere on Apple’s platform, and it lands the same week the song pushed Burna Boy to the top of the Billboard Global 200, making him the first African artist to lead that chart as well.
First to the Top of Spotify’s New Video Chart
Burna Boy has also made history as the first artist, and the first African artist, to reach number one on Spotify’s newly launched Global Music Video Chart, again on the strength of Dai Dai. The chart, introduced by Spotify to rank the platform’s most watched music videos worldwide, had not crowned a leader from Africa before Burna Boy’s ascent.
The milestone arrives alongside a fresh peak for the song on the Billboard Hot 100, where Dai Dai climbed to number 13 this week, with further gains expected following Burna Boy and Shakira’s halftime performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final. The same run has pushed his Spotify monthly listener figure past 53 million, extending his own record as the most streamed African artist in the platform’s history.
A Season Without Precedent
Between the YouTube Music record, the France certification tally, a Billboard Global 200 first, an Apple Music first shared only with Tems, and now a first on Spotify’s video chart, Burna Boy has turned the back half of 2026 into one continuous run of new territory.
