The Afrobeats breakout that ate TikTok in 2022 has kept collecting eyes long after the trend cycle moved on.
Ayra Starr’s official video for “Rush” has passed 600 million views on YouTube, according to the platform’s public count as of Monday afternoon in Lagos (just over 600.06 million on the AyraStarrVEVO upload). It is the first music video by a Nigerian woman to clear the line, and it now sits fourth among Nigerian music videos overall, behind Rema and Selena Gomez’s “Calm Down” remix, Rema’s original “Calm Down,” and CKay’s “Love Nwantiti” remix with Joeboy and Kuami Eugene.
Released in September 2022 through Mavin Records as the spark for her debut album 19 & Dangerous, the TG Omori-directed clip is built around brass-bright bounce, laundry-room choreography, and that sticky “e dey rush” hook. The song later earned a Grammy nomination for Best African Music Performance, and the visual never really left rotation on the platform.
The ranking matters because the company above her is almost all male-led catalogue. “Rush” is the clear women’s leader in the Nigerian YouTube music-video pack, and the gap to the next widely tracked female-led clips is measured in hundreds of millions of views.
Four years on, the video is still adding hundreds of thousands of plays a day. That long tail is how a debut-era single keeps rewriting the domestic view charts without a fresh viral spike.
