Three days out from street date, Yemi Alade put the guest sheet on the table.
On Tuesday she posted the tracklist graphic for her seventh studio album, It’s Yemi Alade, due September 11. Sixteen songs. Ten of them carry features that stretch past one city: Ferre Gola (DRC) on “Coco Na Yam,” Spyro on “Yemi Mi Lova,” Don Jazzy on “Ala Bekee,” Bien on “Don’t Be Shy,” Kenyan pair Sofiya Nzau and Njerae on “Earth Song,” Singuila on “Paradise,” Teni on “Away,” Jeriq on “Overtake,” and Fave on the bonus “Worry.”
That is Nigeria, Congo, Kenya, and the French-language diaspora on one album art board. The two singles already out, “Don’t Be Shy” with Bien and “Ala Bekee” with Don Jazzy, sit mid-list as early receipts. Solo cuts such as “Alhaja,” “General Market,” “Minister of Enjoyment,” and “Titanium” keep her own voice on the spine.
As reported earlier, “Ala Bekee” framed the album’s countdown with a full Clarence Peters video. The tracklist now shows how wide she intends the Friday drop to travel.
