Fireboy DML’s ZUKO! Pulls 3.2 Million Spotify Nigeria Streams in Its First Week

Fireboy DML’s fifth album, ZUKO!, the record he framed as a reintroduction, collected 3,246,920 streams on Spotify Nigeria in its first week, TurnTable reported today. The 13-track record came out on October 16 through YBNL Nation and EMPIRE, as we noted at release.

That works out to about 464,000 streams a day.

The opening day pointed this way. On October 16, every one of the album’s 13 songs entered Spotify Nigeria’s daily chart, and the Lojay-assisted “GODDESS” led them at No. 18 with 138,168 streams, as we tracked that day. Fireboy got there without a song in the top ten, since Blaqbonez and Asake’s “IKEBE 3000” held No. 1. On Apple Music Nigeria, ZUKO! sat at No. 3 on the albums chart.

The week also put him in direct comparison with Blaqbonez, whose NOMADINHO: 4TH PRIME arrived the same day. TurnTable has that album at 5,809,310 first-week Spotify Nigeria streams, about 2.56 million ahead of ZUKO!, with “IKEBE 3000” already a hit before release.

He has explained that idea in plain terms. “I figured that it’s not just enough to remind people who you are if you have to also remind yourself,” he told Apple Music’s Africa Now Radio.

The second week will show whether “GODDESS” and “IMALI” can hold their places once the release rush fades.
