Elite Fest has announced Blaqbonez as one of the headliners for its December edition, and the booking reads less like a surprise than a reward. The festival returns on Monday, December 21, 2026 at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, with doors opening at 4PM and tickets already on sale. Organised by The Elite Collective, the one-day event is pitched as the Evolution of Afrobeats, and few names fit that line this year the way Blaqbonez does.
Start with how 2026 opened. He kicked off the year with “HUSTLE KPA $$$” featuring Artsalghul, then followed in April with the 20-track deluxe edition of No Excuses, the album that handed him his first number one on Spotify Nigeria’s album chart. A sold-out UK run gave him live proof to go with the streaming momentum, and by May he was sitting on the song that would define his year.
That song is “Chanel” featuring Asake. Recorded in Lagos in February and released on May 21 through Chocolate City, it debuted at number one on the Official Nigeria Top 100 with 7.17 million on-demand streams in its first week, making it the first chart-topping single of Blaqbonez’s career in Nigeria. It crossed 10 million Spotify streams in under two weeks, the fastest any Nigerian rap song has done it, and became the first song by a Nigerian rapper to top six streaming platforms at the same time. Abroad, it peaked at number five on Billboard’s U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart, reached number 10 on the Global Shazam chart and landed in 97 countries.
He did not let the momentum cool. “Ikebe 3000,” his second collaboration with Asake, went to the top of both Spotify Nigeria and Apple Music Nigeria and debuted at number five on Billboard’s U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart. “BIG PERFORMER” arrived on August 28, topped Shazam’s New and Rising list that week and debuted at number six on the Official Nigeria Top 100, giving him his twelfth Top 10 entry on that chart and his second of 2026.
The growth shows in his audience numbers too. His catalogue passed 700 million career streams in June, and his Spotify monthly listeners climbed past three million in late August, up from two million in November 2025. Then came the capstone. Nomadinho: 4th Prime, his fifth studio album, landed on October 16 with 15 tracks and features from Asake, Victony, Ruger, TML Vibez, Igwe Aka and Monochrome. The day after, his TML Vibez collaboration “Eko” entered the Official Nigeria Top 100 at number 33, his 27th Top 40 entry on the chart.
That is the real reason he is on this poster. A festival headliner has to bring more than a name. He has to bring songs the whole room already knows, a current moment that sells tickets, and a catalogue deep enough to carry a headline set. Blaqbonez arrives in December with a number one record, a run of hits the crowd can sing word for word, a brand new album still settling into people’s playlists, and a live reputation built on a sold-out tour. Elite Fest is booking him at the peak of his powers.
For a festival built on the idea of Afrobeats evolving, putting a rapper whose biggest records live comfortably in that world at the top of the bill makes sense. Blaqbonez has spent years crossing between hip-hop and Afrobeats, and in 2026 the crossover finally paid off at scale. On December 21, Lagos gets to see what that looks like on a Balmoral stage.
