Starrgirl has picked up two more milestones as its first week wraps up. The album has debuted at No. 180 on Spotify’s Global Weekly Top Albums chart, marking Ayra Starr’s second-ever entry on that chart. It has also now spent a full week at No. 1 on Apple Music Nigeria’s Top Albums chart, holding the top spot since its debut.
The weekly chart entry is a different measure from the debut charts Starrgirl landed on earlier in the week. Where those debut charts capture a project’s first splash, the Global Weekly Top Albums chart reflects sustained streaming volume across a full week against every album in the world, active or new. Landing at No. 180 there, and doing so as only the second time Ayra has ever appeared on this particular chart, more than enough indication that Starrgirl’s numbers held up beyond just a strong opening day.
The week-long hold at No. 1 in Nigeria tells a similar story on a domestic level. Debuting atop the home market is one thing, staying there for a full week against the churn of a heavy release calendar is another, and it confirms Starrgirl has either had no real domestic competition since it dropped, or is just that good.
