FOLA’s second album is still the one sitting first on Apple Music in Nigeria.
“9” holds No. 1 on the Apple Music Nigeria Top Albums chart today, ahead of Seyi Vibez’s “SWAGUU.” The October sophomore project, out through Dangbana Republik Records and EMPIRE, is the same album that took the summit on release week.
The title points to the football striker’s shirt number, a position FOLA played growing up in Ibadan. Apple’s album notes trace the record’s emotional pull from his changed life since “alone” with BhadBoi OML in 2024. On “awade,” he examines the challenges he has faced while reaching for more success. “how many?” lists what his work now affords him, while “miss u ii (nriri)” builds on his 2023 single “Miss You” and “waf” finds him deep in love. “crime” reinterprets 2Baba’s “If Love Is a Crime” for a present-day declaration.
The guest list also gives the album some of its biggest moments. Davido joins FOLA on “2am in toronto,” while frequent collaborator BNXN appears on “my type,” an ode to body positivity. Bella Shmurda and Zlatan close the album with him on “it’s over.”
Cuts from the record are still working the songs chart too. “miss u ii (nriri),” “attention!,” “treat u right,” and “waf” all sit inside Apple Music Nigeria’s Top 15 songs on the same Top Charts page.
