Victony Brings Summer Walker and Don Toliver Onto “Slick” Remix, Out Tonight

Victony is taking the biggest record of his career since “Soweto,” global tonight. The Nigerian star has recruited Summer Walker and Don Toliver for the official remix of “Slick,” which arrives on all streaming platforms later today, October 15.

The lineup carries a lot of history. Summer Walker shared her own cover of “Slick” in August, and the clips spread so fast that fans were calling for an official collaboration within days. Two months later, the Atlanta singer is on the record itself. Don Toliver is no stranger to Victony’s world either. The Houston star jumped on the “Soweto” remix in 2022 alongside Rema and Tempoe, a release that helped turn that song into a worldwide moment. Having him back on another Victony remix feels like a deliberate repeat of a winning formula, this time with one of R&B’s most followed voices beside him.

The original gives the remix a strong foundation. “Slick” opened with 535,000 global Spotify streams in its first 24 hours and kept building from there. It climbed to No. 1 on Spotify Nigeria, peaking at 302,061 streams in a single day. On the TurnTable Top 100, it jumped from No. 73 to No. 1 in one week, giving Victony his first chart-topper in Nigeria and his 13th top 10. It then held the summit for multiple weeks.

Abroad, the numbers are just as impressive. In the UK, “Slick” has been No. 1 on the Official Afrobeats Chart since its first week on the list in late July, and it has now spent 12 weeks at the top. In the United States, it peaked at No. 2 on Billboard’s Afrobeats Songs chart and held that spot for three straight weeks. It became Victony’s third top 10 on that ranking, and its momentum helped his STARLIFE album land eight new entries on the chart. The song has also passed 40 million Spotify streams and earned a place on Harper’s Bazaar’s “Songs of the Summer” playlist.

With two American stars now on board, the remix is built to push “Slick” into new markets, especially in the United States, where its run on the Afrobeats chart is already strong. Tonight, the world gets to hear how far it can go.
