Tems Returns with Love Is A Kingdom: A Short Masterclass in Intimacy

Tems has made a surprising, yet stunning return with her new seven song EP titled Love Is A Kingdom. Released on 21st November 2025, the project is intentional, offering a concentrated burst of emotion, craftsmanship, and artistic clarity.

The EP reads like a collection of personal letters. Each song feels private and purposeful, with themes that revolve around love, desire, power, self doubt, and the courage it takes to choose oneself. The track list includes First, I Am Not Sure, Big Daddy, Lagos Love, Mine, What You Need, and Is There A Reason.

One of the most striking aspects of this release is Tems level of ownership. She produced, composed, and wrote nearly the entire project, working under RCA Records and Since Ninety Three. This creative control is evident in the music. Musically, the EP blends soft R and B textures with the rhythmic soul of modern Afrobeats. Tems uses minimal instrumentation that relies on space, reverb, and subtle percussion.

Love Is A Kingdom arrives after the success of her previous album Born in the Wild and a run of international recognition including Grammy wins and nominations. This EP appears to be a declaration of artistic identity. Here, Tems leans into a shorter, more afrobeats-centered side.

Tems is one of Africa’s most global exports, so it’s no surprise that her surprise EP recorded a total of 1.39 million streams on Spotify in its first 19 hours of tracking and in under 24 hours, it became #1 on Apple Music in 8 countries, as well as charting in 102 countries worldwide.

In less than twenty minutes, Tems builds a world where vulnerability and strength coexist, one that feels both intimate and expansive, Love Is A Kingdom ends with an open door that invites the listener to return, discover more and fall deeper with each replay.
