Burna Boy’s 2026 keeps producing numbers that no African artist has ever posted before, and the latest two push his year into even rarer territory.
A Billion Streams, A First for Burna Boy
Dai Dai has now surpassed 1 billion streams on YouTube Music, making it the first song of Burna Boy’s career to reach that figure on the platform. The track has climbed there in stages, moving past 500 million views on the wider YouTube video count within two months of release before continuing its run through the back half of the year. Reaching a billion streams on YouTube Music specifically places Dai Dai among a small group of songs worldwide to hit that number, and it stands as the clearest marker yet of just how far the Shakira collaboration has traveled since its release as the official 2026 FIFA World Cup anthem.
Fourth Artist in the World, First From Africa
Burna Boy has also surpassed 900 million monthly audience on YouTube Music, now sitting at 929 million. The number makes him the fourth artist anywhere in the world to cross that mark, and the first African artist to do so. It caps a run that has moved in near constant motion through the year, climbing from 644 million in early July to 700 million, then past 800 million, and now within reach of the billion mark that only three other artists on the planet have ever touched.
A Year Still Writing Its Own Records
Between Dai Dai’s billion streams on YouTube Music and Burna Boy’s own audience closing in on the same number, the two milestones sit as fitting companions, one built by the other. Dai Dai remains the engine behind almost every record Burna Boy has broken this year, and with his monthly audience now placing him in the company of only three other artists globally, there’s no telling what other records lie in his path, waiting to be broken.
