Burna Boy’s lead catalogue on Spotify has cleared eight billion streams, the first Afrobeats run to cross that line under the artist’s own name.
Chartmasters logged the mark on October 1, about three weeks after his lead total passed seven billion. African Giant, the 2019 album that still feeds the book, crossed 1.4 billion album streams in late September, another reminder that the older shelves are still printing while newer cuts keep the daily meter moving.
On the lead ladder, Rema remains the nearest Afrobeats name with clear air underneath, while Wizkid still holds the wider all-credit mountain on the platform. Eight billion here is Burna’s own-name weight.
The 2026 African year-to-date race is a different fight: Burna, Wizkid, and Tems have stayed packed near the top through the autumn, catalogue depth and the year race pulling in separate directions.
The same October 1 Chartmasters update also put him at 18 million Spotify followers.
